Program Description:

This three-part series is designed to help Personal Assistance Services [PAS] agencies strengthen everyday compliance, improve communication with clients and families, and support safe, confident service delivery across allowable care settings. Each one-hour session focuses on practical issues PAS leaders and staff face in daily operations, including survey readiness, family dynamics, boundaries, documentation, and health maintenance activities.

Part 1: Survey Ready | One Hour

This session focuses on the everyday practices that help PAS agencies stay survey ready before a surveyor ever arrives. Participants will review key compliance habits related to documentation, service delivery, staff expectations, client records, and operational readiness. The session will emphasize how consistent processes, clear communication, and proactive oversight support quality care and reduce survey risk. Here are three Takeaways:

  • Identify everyday practices that support ongoing PAS survey readiness.
  • Recognize common documentation and operational issues that may create survey risk.
  • Apply practical strategies to strengthen staff accountability, client record accuracy, and compliance confidence.

Part 2: Navigating Family Dynamics | One Hour

This session explores how family dynamics can affect PAS service delivery, communication, boundaries, complaints, and agency risk. Participants will learn strategies for managing challenging conversations, clarifying roles, maintaining professional boundaries, and supporting client-centered services when family members or other involved parties have differing expectations. Emphasis will be placed on communication tools that protect the client, the attendant, and the agency. Here are three Takeaways:

  • Recognize common family dynamics that can impact PAS service delivery and agency operations.
  • Use communication and boundary-setting strategies to reduce conflict and confusion.
  • Identify when family concerns should be documented, escalated, or addressed through agency leadership.

Part 3: Health Maintenance Activities | One Hour

This session provides an overview of health maintenance activities in PAS, with attention to role clarity, safe support, documentation, and agency responsibilities. Participants will discuss how agencies can support appropriate service delivery while maintaining compliance with applicable expectations, care plans, staff competency, and supervision requirements. The session will focus on practical safeguards that promote client safety and staff confidence. Here are three Takeaways:

  • Describe the importance of role clarity when PAS staff assist with health maintenance activities.
  • Identify documentation, competency, and supervision practices that support safe service delivery.
