Program Description:The next step to understanding the Emergency Preparedness Regulations is to determine how to prepare and present evidence of your compliance.
In this presentation Kay Hollers functions as a surveyor and Jennifer Gibson Osburn functions as an agency administrator. Agencies will be able to learn what to expect from the
surveyor and responses from the agency administrator that satisfy the survey process. They also present strategies agencies can use to be comfortable they have put their best foot forward at survey time.
Special emphasis will be placed on documentation of actions taken in risk assessment, patient classification systems, HIPAA, patient evacuation, and testing of the plan.

Program Description:
Part One | Hospice Medical Review in a Medicare Certified World. This program takes agencies through the winding road of Medicare scrutiny.
While billing the Medicare benefit and getting paid relatively easy, there is always a risk of things being reviewed at some point and what can you do to avoid denials.
Participants will be able to define Targeted Probe & Educate (TPE) and outline the structure of how to respond to any level of medical review that may occur, including UPIC, RA, SMRC.
Part Two | Hospice Documentation Supporting Eligibility. Accurate hospice eligibility documentation is critical to fulfilling the CoPs and payment requirements.
The lack of supporting documentation for a terminal prognosis is the number one reason for claim denials under Medical Review.
The clinical documentation must go beyond the LCDs and common tools for documenting eligibility by drilling down to
the details and characteristics that differentiate terminal and chronic patients with the same diagnosis.

in Dallas/Fort Worth, and also served as a vice president of operations for a large for-profit home health agency.
In his role as a consultant, he has assisted organizations in achieving enterprise wide goals for transformation and performance
improvement, enhancing back office processes, systematizing end-to-end departments and their deliverables, and developing shared service functions.
As a highly experienced interim leader, Ron has served as executive director and chief financial officer, managing financial, operational and reimbursement
functions for providers ranging in size from $25M to $280M+ in annual revenue.
An active member of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, and the Home Care and Hospice Financial Managers

Nursing Jurisprudence and Nursing Ethics
Texas Board of Nursing Rule 216.3(g)
All nurses must complete at least 2 contact hours of CNE relating to nursing jurisprudence and nursing ethics
before the end of every third two-year licensing period (applicable to licensing periods that began on or after January 1, 2014). The CNE course(s) must contain information related to:
the Texas Nursing Practice Act,
the Board's rules (including §217.11, Standards of Nursing Practice),
the Board's position statements,
principles of nursing ethics, and
professional boundaries.
Contact hours completed for this requirement do count towards completion of the 20 contact hours of CNE required for all nurses.
Certification may not be used to fulfill this requirement.
APRNs may not use CME to fulfill this requirement. Only CNE is acceptable.
Program Description: Become reacquainted with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Texas BON rules and Position Statements.
Every nurse is responsible to know the Texas BON rules that apply to nursing practice. Also covered are ethical principles and professional boundaries.

administrative positions in both public and private sector organizations. Her work career expands from farm laborer and cafeteria helper to
positions in staff support, sales, training, and personnel administration. She has served in leadership positions for a number of organizations:
chairman of college advisory boards, president of women's organizations, president of personnel administration organizations, and president of a financial institution.
She left the position of personnel administrator with Snohomish County Government to start her own consulting firm, and since that
time has worked with over 500 organizations and associations throughout the United States and Canada.
