Program Description: Because of the unique circumstances experienced during war and peace time, veterans require individualized hospice compassionate care delivery focused on both physical, emotional and psychosocial needs. Veterans represent nearly a third of terminally ill patients and it is important that organizations embrace the “ We Honor our Veterans “ concepts in order to serve this population that have served us so well. By understanding the resources and benefits available to veterans and their families for end of life care, participants are well prepared to discuss these options with their patients. Texas has the second largest veteran population targeted to be the largest in in just one year. Understanding care concepts for this population group will ensure positive outcomes for the hospice organization, communities, families , and most importantly for the veteran hospice patient.
