Learn from seasoned experts and return with practical insights to fuel financial stability, accountability, and long-term success.
Who Should Subscribe & Why It Matters
Developed and presented for the 2026 Fall Virtual Conference, this financial training series was designed for all care-at-home organizations - from small agencies to large multi-site providers - across all payor types and all programs.
Many owners, operators, and leaders responsible for managing care-at-home organizations have little or no formal financial management training, yet they are making decisions every day that directly affect organizational stability and long-term success. These six one-hour sessions close that gap.
All levels of leadership and business management are encouraged to subscribe, including:
- Owners & Administrators
- COOs, CEOs, CSOs, Regional Directors
- Clinical Leaders, such as RN supervisors, case managers, and interdisciplinary team leads
Every person in a care-at-home organization influences the bottom line - through documentation, scheduling, visit utilization, communication, client experience, and operational efficiency. The question is: how much time and training has your organization invested in helping staff understand that bottom line?
Goal of this Six-Session Series
Participants will walk away with enhanced business management skills tailored to today’s care-at-home environment - skills that strengthen financial awareness, improve operational decision-making, and empower every role to contribute meaningfully to organizational performance.
Session 1 | Navigating the Business of Care at Home
The care at home industry offers great opportunity for those with a passion to care for others and serve the community. But, successfully managing the business and finances of care at home requires owners and operators to navigate clinical and non-clinical operations, constant workforce pressures, and rapidly emerging technology in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. As the industry continues to evolve, owners and operators must be able to align financial sustainability and operational effectiveness.
In this session, you will gain insights from a panel of industry leaders sharing experiences on managing the business aspects of care at home, navigating the challenges of today, and anticipating the opportunities of tomorrow.
TAHC&H Faculty/Presenter(s):
Marcylle Combs, Owner, BS, MS, MAC Legacy; Angela Huff, RN, Senior Manager, Forvis Mazars; M. Aaron Little, CPA, Managing Director, Forvis Mazars
Session 2 | Fundamentals of Financial Health: Financial Statements
Understanding how to read and interpret financial statements is a fundamental of financial health. Accurate financial reporting is necessary not only for basic business management, but also for satisfying third-party reporting requirements, such as lenders, regulators, and others. As an owner or operator of a care at home organization, possessing a basic understanding of financial statements is necessary to successfully manage the finances of your organization.
In this session, attendees will gain practical insights on how to read and interpret financial statements, including basic tips for accurate financial reporting.
TAHC&H Faculty/Presenter(s):
Morgan Crews, CPA, Director, Forvis Mazars; Tori Cross, CPA, Senior Manager, Forvis Mazars
Session 3 | Fundamentals of Financial Health: Budgeting
Financial success is everyone's responsibility. Budgeting is an active step in effective financial management, helping care at home organizations align resources, manage cash flow, control expenses, and improve financial sustainability. This session will explore how building a practical and effective budget helps every team member understand how they contribute to achieving organizational goals while protecting long-term financial health.
TAHC&H Faculty/Presenter(s):
Andrea Fairbanks, CPA, Senior Manager, Forvis Mazars; Amanda Thomas, CPA, Managing Director, Forvis Mazars
Session 4 | Fundamentals of Financial Health: KPIs and Benchmarks
How do you measure whether your care at home organization is successful? What are the key performance indicators (KPIs) that convey success? How does your organization’s performance compare with peers? What insights do your KPIs provide about your organization’s financial and operational performance?
This session will outline the KPIs most critical to track and use for budgeting and business management, provide practical industry benchmarks, and explore the cause-and-effect relationships between KPIs.
TAHC&H Faculty/Presenter(s):
Angela Huff, RN, Senior Manager, Forvis Mazars; Amanda Thomas, CPA, Managing Director, Forvis Mazars
Session 5 | Fundamentals of Financial Health: Diversity and Sustainability
Care at home organizations that lack diversity of payers and programs can be financially risky. Likewise, diverse organizations often lack tracking and reporting to effectively evaluate individual payer and program financial performance.
This session will explore strategies for diversifying your organization’s payor and program sources and measuring and tracking them individually for their respective financial sustainability. This session will also provide an overview of payors and programs available to care at home organizations, including typical benefits and challenges of each.
TAHC&H Faculty/Presenter(s):
Andrea Fairbanks, CPA, Senior Manager, Forvis Mazars; Elizabeth Wilson, CPA, Managing Director, Forvis Mazars
Session 6 | Preparing Your Business: Succession and Ownership Transition
Business owners eventually must assess options for facilitating an ownership change as either a buyer or a seller, whether due to ownership succession, sales or merger opportunity, or other factors. Many care at home business owners have never navigated an ownership change, which in today’s highly regulated landscape can be very intimidating and complex.
In this session, attendees will gain insights from a panel of industry leaders sharing experiences relating to ownership changes, including business factors to consider, financial reporting expectations of prospective buyers, today’s landscape of regulatory complexities, transition and integration considerations post-transaction, and other relevant matters.
