Program Description: This presentation addresses the latest changes to COVID-19 leave-related laws, as well as what to consider
on encouraging, incentivizing, or mandating employee vaccinations. Ms Chapa also addresses common issues affecting employers in the health care industry, such as incomplete
documentation, wage and hour issues, and options for disciplinary action. Jennifer Elder addresses the Licensure perspective of having COVID-19 positive patients and employees
and demonstrates how to access the TAHCH COVID page and resources.

About the Presenter(s):
Velissa Chapa serves as legal counsel to Aaron Demerson, the Commissioner Representing Employers at the Texas Workforce Commission.
Velissa specializes in employment law and advises the Employer Commissioner on high-level unemployment claim appeals and legislative changes. She is also responsible for answering the employer
hotline and is a regular presenter at TWC’s Texas Conference for Employers, where she discusses the laws surrounding employer policies and procedures. Velissa was born and raised in McAllen, Texas,
and worked in the private sector in the legal field for 7 years before joining the agency.
About the Presenter(s):
Jennifer Elder Jennifer Elder started with TAHC&H in September 2019. Her experience includes Home Health and Hospice
Administration, DME Management and Home Care Consulting. Prior to coming to TAHC&H she worked as a consultant from 2012 – 2017 for home health and hospice agencies and DME agencies throughout
Texas. She has hands on experience in the home care industry with the ADR process, QAPI programs, Marketing and Business Development, Licensing, Accreditation, Plans of Correction and Informal
Dispute Resolutions, Human Resources, Policy Development and Strategic Planning. Jennifer has been in the home care industry since 2007.
