Program Description: The number of investigations and inspections by regulatory surveyors has steadily increased over the past few years. In 2018, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission conducted 4,500 visits and contacts of home and community support services agencies. To help home health and hospice providers prepare for such a visit, this program provides guidance on how to avoid the most frequent deficiencies cited by the state agency. Examples of survey findings with the rationale for the finding of deficiencies are highlighted. Part 1 includes a review of the survey process and a review of data from the Texas HHS Annual Report Regarding LTC Regulatory - published August 2019 - and then presents details on deficiencies for Home Health; Part 2 presents deficiencies for Hospice.

Program Learning Outcome: Participants will actively engage in the learning activity and indicate an intent to change their practice by implementing clinical practices to remain in compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and state and federal regulations.
