Part One: Now that the Texas State of Emergency for the COVID-19 Pandemic has technically ended, it’s time to look back at the massive effects it had on our industry. In this presentation, we will recap the changes and adaptations that we as home care providers had to implement during the global event in order to continue to do business, including Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control, OSHA ETS, CDC requirements, Blanket Waivers, staffing shortages, and government assistance programs. Part Two: As we in home care always do, we’ve adapted and overcome every challenge thrown at us during the past 2 years and 8 months. In this presentation, let’s not dwell on the past, but learn from it and move forward with a new level of resilience. We’ll discuss a new way of doing some things, and which protocols are forever changed, as well as which aspects of the industry can return to a relative “normal”. Maintaining Annual Requirements for PAS and Private Duty Agencies

[3664] Don't Scramble When the State Shows Up: Maintaining Annual Requirements for PAS and Private Duty Agencies
Reviews minimum requirements, and presents when it's best for agencies to do more than the minimum! Presentation Info: TAHC&H Event | Spring Virtual Conference | Recorded for On-Demand Access Presentation Date | May 12, 2022 Program Description: When keeping up with the daily operations of home care; client management, Covid-19 protocols, and just getting people to show up, the more mundane tasks and less-pressing regulatory requirements can easily take a back seat. We all learned what's required of us when we first opened, but for agencies with no designated compliance officer, some of these necessary items get shoved in the trunk until "State's in the building". This session reviews some of the minimum requirements, and presents when it's best for our agencies to do more than the minimum. HCSSA Topic(s) Addressed: §558.259[d][4]agency responsibilities §558.260[a][3]basic principles of management in a licensed health-related setting §558.260[a][6]risk assessment and management Education-Training Credits: TX HCSSA Administrator/Alternate Continuing Education 1.0 Clock Hr(s) Texas HCSSA CE Approval Statement

No Client Left Behind: Taking QAPI Seriously in PAS

[3626] No Client Left Behind: Taking QAPI Seriously in PAS
Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) is often treated as a chore...but it's so much more than that! Presentation Info: TAHC&H Winter Conference 2022 | Dallas | Recorded for On-Demand Access Presentation Date | February 24, 2022 Program Description: Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) is often treated as a chore we have to "check off the list" to remain in compliance with regulations. But it's so much more than that. There's a reason that every successful organization in the world uses some version of QAPI as a measuring tool to continue to evolve and adapt in an ever-changing environment. Just because you don't bill medical insurance, doesn't mean that QAPI is less important than it is for home health and hospice. Private Duty agencies have a different, and in some ways deeper obligation to their clientele than medical providers. You're in their homes for extended periods of time, and become involved in many areas of their lives, including their general wellbeing. With this in mind, you'll learn how analyzing QA information and applying improved performance measures to the whole spectrum of service will not only enhance the quality of care you provide, but foster loyalty amongst your clients and employees. Setting and Holding Professional Boundaries in Private Home Care

[3666] Setting and Holding Professional Boundaries in Private Home Care
Reviews what's okay and what's not okay when it comes to staff's relationships with clients, and how to mitigate the potential risks to the agency. Presentation Info: TAHC&H Event | Spring Virtual Conference | Recorded for On-Demand Access Presentation Date | May 12, 2022 Program Description: When we talk about boundaries in private duty home care, we sometimes cringe. We cringe because we know that even our best staff cross professional boundaries with their clients, and some obliterate boundaries altogether. This happens despite an agency's best efforts to put professional boundary measures in place and communicate about them constantly. When added to the stressors of daily operations, this frustrating topic gets placed at the bottom of the priority list. "It's going to happen anyway, and our efforts backfire, so what can we do about it?" This session reviews what's okay and what's not okay when it comes to staff's relationships with clients, and how to mitigate the potential risks to the agency. Taking the Intimidation Out of RN Delegation for Private Duty and PAS

[3632] Taking the Intimidation Out of RN Delegation for Private Duty and PAS
If you own a PAS in Texas, and you’re not yet providing RN Delegation as a specialty program, then you could be doing your clients a dis-service, or unknowingly breaking the rules. Presentation Info: TAHC&H Winter Conference 2022 | Dallas | Recorded for On-Demand Access Presentation Date | February 24, 2022 Program Description: Do you ever worry that your caregivers could be “crossing the line” when it comes to assistance with self-administration of certain medications? Do your staff really provide “hand-over-hand” assistance with eye drops and inhalers? What about those clients who need their oral medications crushed or put in food? If you own a PAS in Texas, and you’re not yet providing RN Delegation as a specialty program, then you could be doing your clients a dis-service, or unknowingly breaking the rules. Our primary goal in PAS is make the lives of our clients and their families simpler. So, if we “draw the line” at those much-needed tasks that must be delegated, then are we really giving them the best service we can?
