This program provides focus on how to establish a robust risk management program. It enables
the home health administrator to:
understand the key principles of risk managementidentify key elements of an enterprise risk
management programidentify strategies to minimize
riskunderstand options to finance
riskidentify common home care hazards/risks and
develop a plan to address those risksexplore common home care risk scenarios and how
to manage risk
This program is presented by Nancy T. Poblenz, RN, BSN, DDS,
JD, CPHRM. Nancy serves as the Litigation and Loss Prevention Director for
CHRISTUS Health, based in Houston Texas. In this capacity, she is responsible
for the claims investigation and litigation management of all matters involving
the healthcare system, including professional, general, employment, business,
class action and other litigation against CHRISTUS Health facilities.
She also coordinates the corporate response to all government
and regulatory investigations. As corporate Loss Prevention Director she is
responsible for leading all corporate loss prevention initiatives. She serves
on various corporate committees, including the corporate Quality Committee and
Clinical Policy Team, and is active in the CHRISTUS St. John Hospital Ethics
Committee. Nancy’s publications include an article on Medical
Futility published in the Houston Bar Journal and a chapter on Medical Tourism
in the First Edition of Enterprise Risk Management, a textbook recently
published by the American Health Lawyers Association. She is a frequent speaker
on healthcare related topics.
