Nursing Jurisprudence and Nursing Ethics
Texas Board of Nursing Rule 216.3(g)
All nurses must complete at least 2 contact hours of CNE relating to nursing jurisprudence and nursing ethics
before the end of every third two-year licensing period (applicable to licensing periods that began on or after January 1, 2014). The CNE course(s) must contain information related to:
the Texas Nursing Practice Act,
the Board's rules (including §217.11, Standards of Nursing Practice),
the Board's position statements,
principles of nursing ethics, and
professional boundaries.
Contact hours completed for this requirement do count towards completion of the 20 contact hours of CNE required for all nurses.
Certification may not be used to fulfill this requirement.
APRNs may not use CME to fulfill this requirement. Only CNE is acceptable.
Program Description:
Calling all RN's and APRN's!!! Become reacquainted with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Texas BON rules and Position Statements. Lisa Selman-Holman will take rules that every Texas nurse needs to know and practically apply those to home care. Every nurse is responsible for knowing the Texas BON rules that apply to nursing practice as well as understanding and applying ethical principles and professional boundaries for nursing. This program provides the 2 contact hours of continuing education on jurisprudence and ethics that is required for all Texas nurses.

Lisa Selman-Holman brings more than 35 years of experience in the home health & hospice industry, specializing in regulatory compliance,
both as an RN and a home care attorney. Lisa founded Selman-Holman & Associates and CoDR (Coding Done Right), a coding outsource and audit
company in 2004. Lisa has a wide range of regulatory experience in home health and has served on numerous committees and task forces.
Selman-Holman was recently acquired by McBee in July 2021. In her role as VP of Education and Quality, Lisa leads the quality audit team
to ensure the highest-level of accuracy in coding and clinical documentation internally at McBee and externally for clients nationwide.
