She gained her hospice operations experience as the President/CEO of San Diego Hospice for 10 years prior to her current position with VITAS. Prior to hospice, Holly worked in home health.
Dr. Swiger has previously served 8 years as the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization’s Board of Directors. Holly is a member of the NHPCO’s Regulatory Committee,
Managed Care Advisory Committee, CMS Regional Task Force and Chairs the Medicaid Task Force. Dr. Swiger also serves on the Public Policy Committee for the Hospice associations

Rebecca McMinn, BSN, RN, MBA brings twenty-five years of experience in the hospice field to the Texas based home health and hospice
consulting firm, HealthCare ConsultLink. With over 35 years in nursing, the majority of her experience has been in the ICU setting and in hospice. Rebecca served on the
Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice Organization’s Board, Board Member and Past President of Texas New Mexico Hospice Organization, and is a member of Texas Association for

Mary Helen Tieken, RN, BSN is the Owner/Administrator of Nurses In Touch, Inc., a licensed and certified home health

spent the last 27 years in home health and hospice.

About the Presenter: Brandi Whitemyer, RN, COS-C, HCS-D, HCS-O, AHIMA Approved ICD-10 Trainer/Ambassador is a 14-year veteran
of home health and hospice as a Registered Nurse. She has experience as a field nurse, director, administrator, and regulatory affairs executive with agencies, both large and small.

Program Description:Home Health agencies have a duty of care for the patients/clients they serve. A duty of care refers to the obligation to
take responsible care to avoid injury to a person whom, it can be reasonably foreseen, might be injured by an act or omission. Omission is often the area that puts agencies at greatest risk.
A clinician didn’t know how to meet a need, therefore, they overlook that it exist. In home health, the care you provide must be looked at through a multidisciplinary lens where multiple
complex issues will arise. As an Administrator, there will be times you are dependent on outside resources, and community partners, to solve a need. It is also important to understand
ethical issues associated with using outside resources, including ensuring that there are no “kickbacks” associated with using other community partners.
This presentation teaches Administrators how, and where, to locate community resources for their patients/clients, how to utilize community resources in an
