ANNUAL CONTINUING EDUCATION
Continuing Education programs are offered for (1) a designated Administrator or Alternate who must comply with TAC §558.260, and (2) a prior administrator or alternate not currently designated but maintaining compliance with TAC §558.260, and (3) anyone who wants to improve their knowledge on a broad range of topics specific to TX HCSSAs.
Continuing Education programs come from TAHC&H conferences & events to address a broad range of topics specific to Texas HCSSAs administrative responsibilities. Programs are added throughout the year as each conference/event concludes. All programs provide TX HCSSA Administration CE credits and many also provide Nurse CE. All programs are à la carte, that is, you have the flexibility to browse and order programs that suit your specific needs and are applicable to your role and responsibility. disabilities who are aging out of pediatric Medicaid programs. Each person’s rights for personal autonomy, liberty, freedom and dignity is one that is to be respected and supported.
By law, each adult or emancipated minors presumed to be competent to make decisions for him/herself. Many families need guidance and education to navigate this pathway successfully
with their loved one. Knowing what options are available to families for their loved ones is a difficult path to manage, but with the information provided in this session, agency
leaders will know what resources are available and how to guide families to the legal path that is best for them.

About the Presenters:
Terry Anstee is a staff attorney at Disability Rights Texas, the federally-funded protection and
advocacy organization charged with protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in Texas. In this role, Terry has represented many children in fair hearings on
a variety of Medicaid issues, including Comprehensive Care Program services and Medically Dependent Children Program services. Terry is also a Registered Nurse and
his nursing experience helps him to understand client’s medical issues and clinical records. He has dealt with Health and Human Services, Texas Medicaid and Health
Partnership, and Medicaid Managed Care organizations on a variety of issues and their obligations under the law.
Courtney Carey received her BSW from Tarleton State University and her MS in Long Term Care, Senior Housing and Aging Services
from the University of North Texas. Courtney is also a Texas Certified Guardian. She has worked for Denton County MHMR for almost 18 years with both the Mental Health and
IDD services. Courtney is the Administrator of Provider Services which encompasses the Denton County Guardianship Program and the Home and Community Based Services (HCS)
Medicaid Waiver Program. Both are a provider of last resort for Denton County.
Travis Weaver is an attorney with Travis Firm Attorneys in Rhome, Texas who provides his community with deep legal knowledge
and strong personal commitment to helping obtain nursing home benefits, protect assets through a will, claim ownership of inherited property or cash, and negotiate
