Time Management for Administrators: Balancing Operations with Compliance

[3797] Time Management for Administrators: Balancing Operations with Compliance
How to manage day-to-day issues while working your compliance program. Presentation Info: TAHC&H Event 54th Annual Meeting | Rich-Media Presentation Capture | Online On-Demand Access Presentation Date | August 31, 2023 Program Description: Administrator’s and Clinical Supervisors never have "enough time". Compliance tends to get pushed to the back burner because it’s seen as additional work that can be done when all the fires have been put out, until compliance becomes the bonfire we can’t ignore. In this presentation, there is a discussion of the day-to-day issues facing home-based care agencies, and managing those issues while working your compliance program. Also discussed is how to document efficiently so that completing your compliance is just a matter of running a report from your EMR. We can’t eliminate emergencies, but we can restructure to stop duplicating work and allow you and your team the one thing more important than coffee; TIME! Her original plan of becoming Michael J Fox from Spin City didn’t seem to have as much potential as she originally thought. A part time job in a private pay PAS agency turned into managing a private pay PAS agency which turned into Regional Director for a Medicaid PAS program and then to Administrator at an adult Home Health Agency. She started her consulting company with her business partner in 2013 and since then has had the opportunity to work with Home Health and Hospice clients across the US with a focus in Texas. Why and How Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Matters to Your Hospice Organization

[3798] Why and How Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Matters to Your Hospice Organization
How VBID compnents affect your hospice and revenue collections. Presentation Info: TAHC&H Event 54th Annual Meeting | Rich-Media Presentation Capture | Online On-Demand Access Presentation Date | August 31, 2023 Program Description: In its fifth year of testing, the hospice component of Medicare’s Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) continues to grow and evolve. In fact, the number of Medicare Advantage organizations participating in the VBID model increased by more than 35% and were expected to provide coverage for more than 9.3 million Medicare beneficiaries in 2023. While those numbers are still out, what we do know is that if your hospice organization has not been affected by this shift in payment for hospice services, it will be in the very near future. In this session, Zaundra Ellis discusses components of the hospice VBID model, how they affect the care your hospice organization provides, and how collecting your hard-earned revenue is different when working with a Medicare Advantage organization. HCSSA Topic(s) Addressed: §558.259[d][4]agency responsibilities §558.260[a][2]development and interpretation of agency policies §558.260[a][3]basic principles of management in a licensed health-related setting §558.260[a][7]financial management Education-Training Credits: TX HCSSA Administrator/Alternate Continuing Education 1.0 Clock Hr(s) Continuing Education for Nurses 1.0 Contact Hr(s) This program awards CNE until 08.31.2025 Texas HCSSA CE Approval Statement

The ANCC COA is interested in the opinions and perceptions of participants at approved CNE activities, especially in the presence of actual or perceived bias in continuing education. Therefore, ANCC invites participants to access their “ANCC Accreditation Feedback Line” to report any noted bias or conflict of interest in the education activity. [3817] CY2024 Home Health Final Rule: VBP
What’s now and what’s new? Presentation Info: TAHC&H Event Administrator Conference | Rich-Media Presentation Capture | Online On-Demand Access Presentation Date | November 8, 2023 Program Description: What’s now and what’s new? The TNC is currently 17.5% of the Total Performance Score of VBP, but CMS is implementing drastic changes. Even though CMS is omitting the TNC from its programs and replacing it with the Discharge Function score, the TNC scores are still important through payment year 2026. Now is the time to ramp up for the first performance year for Discharge Function, so learn what your plan should be for 2024. ACH and ED Use claims data currently comprise 35% of your Total Performance Scores. Even though your ACH and ED Use scores are being jettisoned in favor of the new PPH, the ACH and ED Use will still impact your payment until 2026. New to VBP are the PPH and the Discharged to Community (claims-based) quality measures, which together will comprise 35% and will require some adjustments in your Performance Improvement Programs. PPH will include hospitalizations (both ACH and LTCH) and observation stays. The DTC measure will include readmissions for up to 31 days after discharge. Lisa discusses what actions can be taken now to improve those numbers. Bias, as defined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA/LSNA) is the “tendency or inclination to cause partiality, favoritism, or influence.” Commercial bias may occur when a CNE activity promotes one or more product(s) (drugs, devices, services, software, hardware, etc.). This definition is not all inclusive and participants may use their own interpretation in deciding if a presentation is biased. The toll free number is 1(866) 262-9730.
