Program Description: Organization culture does not always align to cultural competency. The healthcare industry
is unique because we provide care not culture. Competency in the culture of people can broaden our perspective and improve the level of care currently provided.
It can feel exhausting and overwhelming unless you can embrace a changing culture. Providing care in a climate that embraces client culture can change the dynamics of the healthcare industry.
The presentation is designed to help healthcare leaders develop knowledge, skills, and attitude to perform in a culturally sensitive society.
The presenter discusses six core competencies, namely:
Inclusive care;
Exploring cultural differences;
Identify Competency triggers;
Understanding Biases;
Growth through awareness;
Standards and law.

Program Description: Part One | Hospice Medical Review in a Medicare Certified World. This program takes agencies through the winding road of Medicare scrutiny.
While billing the Medicare benefit and getting paid relatively easy, there is always a risk of things being reviewed at some point and what can you do to avoid denials.
Participants will be able to define Targeted Probe & Educate (TPE) and outline the structure of how to respond to any level of medical review that may occur, including UPIC, RA, SMRC.
Part Two | Hospice Documentation Supporting Eligibility. Accurate hospice eligibility documentation is critical to fulfilling the CoPs and payment requirements.
The lack of supporting documentation for a terminal prognosis is the number one reason for claim denials under Medical Review.
The clinical documentation must go beyond the LCDs and common tools for documenting eligibility by drilling down to
the details and characteristics that differentiate terminal and chronic patients with the same diagnosis.

Bias, as defined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA/LSNA) is the “tendency or inclination to cause partiality, favoritism, or influence.”
Commercial bias may occur when a CNE activity promotes one or more product(s) (drugs, devices, services, software, hardware, etc.). This definition is not all inclusive and participants may use
their own interpretation in deciding if a presentation is biased. The ANCC COA is interested in the opinions and perceptions of participants at approved CNE activities, especially in the presence
of actual or perceived bias in continuing education. Therefore, ANCC invites participants to access their “ANCC Accreditation Feedback Line” to report any noted bias or conflict of interest in the
education activity. The toll free number is 1(866) 262-9730.

Program Description: Many agencies are looking for more and more ways to trim the expenses from their overhead and
therefore recognize a stronger bottom line profit. One significant cost savings they take advantage of is outsourcing work that can easily be outsourced while
leaving the owners and operators in control of their businesses. There are many back office functions that can be outsourced such as payroll, billing and QA – but
accounting is an often overlooked back office function that can also be easily outsourced to provide the agency a better bottom line, reduced administrative
staff costs and less back office management needed. Not only can this be a cost savings but it can also really simplify the operations – less staff to manage
and knowing that someone who is skilled at that activity is handling it.
In this session we will discuss which scenarios make the most sense to outsource the accounting function of the agency, how it works and what
solutions are out there to assist in finding the right mix of outsourcing the work but still maintaining control.
