The bereavement program we provide helps them cope and eventually thrive in their new normal. It is hard but fulfilling work. All too often, bereavement services are not seen as a vital role of hospice care. What if the bereavement program is reevaluated, along with the role of the bereavement coordinator? What if bereavement services can be viewed in a new way? The concepts provided in this webinar will help your bereavement program to thrive and grow while serving those dealing with death in a meaningful way. In this session, we will discuss the role of the bereavement program and adding the bereavement coordinator as a member of the hospice team, what regulations say about bereavement services, and how to breathe new life into bereavement services by viewing it from a different perspective. In a world where technology is an important part of everyday life, successful volunteer professionals leverage technology to develop a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy. Gone are the days of posting volunteer opportunities at the local coffee shop, library, or the current volunteer recruitment websites. To stand out, volunteer professionals need to understand how to develop a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy that includes an analysis of the current volunteer program to identify what is working well and not so well. Using that information and leveraging what we will be discussing in this session, your volunteer program will grow in ways that you may have never imagined. Hospice Medicare Advantage Carve-In: The Time Has Come

[3505] Hospice Medicare Advantage Carve-In: The Time Has Come
Details of the Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Model – Hospice Benefit Component. Presentation Info: TAHC&H Virtual Event | Winter Conference | Recorded for On-Demand Access Presentation Date | February 9, 2021 Program Description: This presentation covers the details of the Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Model – Hospice Benefit Component. Medicare Advantage (MA) has long had coverage for home health patients, but there has never been coverage for Hospice under the MA benefit. VBID is a demonstration that will begin January 1, 2021. There are 9 Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAO) that will be participating and have coverage in multiple states. In addition to Hospice care there is an expansion of Palliative Care services that will be offered to patients through the MAO. CMS is testing how the hospice benefit component can improve beneficiary care through greater care coordination, reduced fragmentation, and transparency in line with recommendations by the Office of Inspector General (OIG), the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) and others. CMS will require that MAOs provide beneficiaries with broad access to the complete original Medicare hospice benefit. This presentation covers all known aspects of the demonstration and prepares hospices for the reality that Medicare Advantage is now in the Hospice world.
